Radius Building

The Radius Center is an expansion to the existing Radius Building, located in Downtown San Antonio. A place where thousands of tourists and citizens enjoy the unusual warmth of this city, as it offers new experiences on every corner.

This project required architecture students to design the expansion of the Radius. The new building will feature space for a radio station, which includes offices, engineering and technical utility rooms, etc. In addition, the building needs to contain rentable office space that is flexible and easily arranged by whoever rents it. Finally, a restaurant would attract people to the building, a reason for them to approach its interior space as well as to make use of its social outdoor environment.

PROCESS

Once the site had been identified and analyzed, it was clear that for pedestrians to be able to get to the Tobin Center they would need to go around the building unless the Radius offered a path that would shorten the distance.

FLOOR PLANS

Shown in this image is the building coming to life at night. The Radius addition offers great outdoor spaces. Visitors can enjoy a nice meal either on the roof top, on the ground level or of course inside the restaurant.

One of the main attractions of the building is its proximity to the Tobin Center (shown in the back). San Antonio's best spot for performing arts. Tourists and visitors can make their way into the radius building before heading over to the Tobin Center or vice versa.
